Milestones:  1995 to 1996

Navidad en el Barrio is indeed blessed.  1995 proves to be very successful!

• Jun:  Second Annual "Young-at-Heart Day" for Senior Citizens.  150 guests enjoyed a day full of festivities.  They were treated to lunch, door prizes and each guest received a $10.00 gift check from Fiesta Mart.  We also had a talent competition with each winner receiving cash awards and trophies.  The day concluded with a dance which was enjoyed by all.

• Dec:  Assisted the Association for Advancement of Mexican Americans with toys for their Christmas party for children infected with the HIV virus.

• Dec 17:  Grand party at the Astroarena Pavillion where 2,000 children from 50 elementary schools were treated to a gigantic Christmas program.  Over $22,000 was spent on toys alone.

• Dec 23:  Delivered toys to children spending Christmas at LBJ County Hospital.

• Dec 24:  Caravan of nine vehicles delivered toys and food to approximately 17 families beginning at 6 p.m.  Simultaneously, individual volunteers and their families delivered gifts and grocery bags to over 100 families throughout the city.

Navidad En El Barrio reaches new heights in 1996

• Mar 2:  NEEB treats 15 children to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, providing breakfast, lunch, carnival tickets, and ten dollars for spending money.

• Jul 6:  Benavides Drive Inn hosts benefit golf tourney for NEEB.

• Sep 8:  3rd Annual "Young at Heart Day" for senior citizens.  150 guests were invited, each receiving a $10.00 gift check from Fiesta Mart, Inc. food, door prizes and all were treated to a dance.

• Oct 19:  First Annual Navidad En El Barrio Garage Sale.

• Dec 7:  Las Posadas Golf Tourney benefits Navidad En El Barrio.  Founded by Atty. Juan Contreras.

• Dec 12:  Dovalina, Eureste, Villarreal & Landa, L.L.P. host Xmas Party benefitting Navidad En El Barrio.

• Dec 21:  Navidad En El Barrio host its 10th annual grand party for 2,000 children at the Astroarena Pavillion.  Over $26,000 is budgeted and 100 children receive bikes as door prizes, in addition to their three gifts and goodies.

• Dec 24:  Family Assistance:  Caravan of friends and family simultaneously deliver gifts and food to approximately 70 families beginning at 6:00 P.M.
